VUISO WATERMARK PDF — how to use ================================ Stamp a word or a logo across a PDF, and see exactly where it lands before you save. Everything happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works with the network switched off. This tool works on ONE FILE at a time. To combine several use Vuiso Merge PDF; to drop pages use Vuiso Split PDF; to turn pages use Vuiso Rotate PDF. OPENING IT Double-click "Vuiso Watermark PDF.html". It opens in your browser like a normal page. There is nothing to install. Chrome or Edge is recommended; Firefox and Safari work too. THE SHORT VERSION 1. Open PDF (or drag the file onto the page area) 2. Type the word CONFIDENTIAL is there to start with 3. Save PDF The pages on the right already show the result. Nothing is written until you press the button in the Save window. TWO KINDS OF WATERMARK Text a word, in one of six built-in typefaces, at a size, colour and angle you choose. The typefaces need no font file, which is why the whole tool is one small page. Image a PNG or a JPG - your logo, a signature, a stamp. A PNG with a see-through background is what you want: a JPG has no transparency, so it arrives as a rectangle. Drag an image straight onto the page area and it is taken as the watermark, not as a document to open. "Width across the page" sizes an image as a share of the page's own width, so the same setting looks right on A4 and on a wide scan. EVERY SLIDER HAS A BOX Beside each slider is a field you can type into. The slider is for finding a value, the box for stating one - 47, rather than roughly a quarter of the way along. They hold the same setting between them, so moving either moves the other, and a number typed past the end of the range is pulled back to it. Clearing the box to retype it does not reset anything: nothing is written back until the number settles. HOW IT LOOKS Opacity how much of the page shows through the mark. Angle -90 to 90 degrees. 45 is the classic diagonal. Layer Over content puts the mark on top, where nothing can hide it. Behind content tucks it under the page's own ink - the right choice for a scanned form, where a mark on top would sit over the words somebody has to read. WHERE IT GOES One mark one stamp, placed with the nine-square pad: a corner, an edge, or the middle. "Margin" is how far it stays clear of the edge. Tiled the mark repeated over an even grid, so many rows by so many columns. Useful when a document might be cropped or photographed in part: a corner stamp can be cut off, a tiled one cannot. WHICH PAGES Every page the default. Selected pages the ones you click in the grid. A range I type 1-3, 7, 10- A trailing dash means "to the end". Odd / Even every other page. A page that will not be stamped is greyed out and says "no watermark" under its number, so a range typed wrongly is visible immediately rather than after you have saved. SELECTING PAGES Click select one page SHIFT + click select everything between it and the last one clicked CTRL + click add one page, or take one out of the selection CTRL + A select every page Esc select nothing Clicking a page while "Every page" is set switches to "Selected pages" for you, and says so - otherwise the clicking would have done nothing. THE ONE THING WORTH UNDERSTANDING The pages in the grid are not an impression of the result. They are measured with the same numbers the file is written with - the same font tables, the same page box, the same rotation - so a mark that fits in the grid fits in the file. That matters most on scans. A scanned page usually carries a rotation of its own, recorded inside the PDF, and the page you SEE is not the page as it is stored. The mark is placed against what you see, then translated onto the stored page, which is why a corner stamp lands in that corner and reads level even on a page that arrived sideways. SAVING "Save PDF" shows a summary first: the source file, the mark, and how many of the pages are getting it. Nothing is written until you press the button in that window. Your original file is never modified. The new file is your document with the mark drawn onto it - bookmarks, links, form fields and text all survive, and a searchable PDF stays searchable. Nothing is re-encoded. The mark is drawn into the page, not attached as an annotation. It cannot be clicked and deleted in a PDF reader. It is not encryption, though: anybody determined enough can still edit a PDF. A watermark says who a document belongs to; it does not lock it. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS Ctrl+O Open PDF Ctrl+A Select every page Esc Select nothing Ctrl+E Save PDF NOTES - The six built-in typefaces cover Latin letters, which is what the PDF standard fonts carry. Type something they cannot write - Japanese, Arabic, Cyrillic - and the tool says so, and names the characters, instead of failing at save time. For those, stamp an image instead. - Big documents open immediately. Thumbnails are drawn only as they scroll into view, and the cache holding them is capped, so a long scan does not end up sitting on hundreds of megabytes of pictures you are no longer looking at. Moving a slider redraws from that cache, not from the file. - Memory, as a rough guide: allow about 300MB plus several times the size of the file. Under 50MB it is comfortable anywhere; a 100MB scan wants about 2GB free. If it ever runs out the browser closes the tab, and because your original is never written to, you lose the settings and nothing else. - Nothing is stored. No cookies, no database - closing the tab loses the settings, which is why there is a warning before you do. The only thing remembered is which of the two languages you chose. PRIVACY The file contains a Content-Security-Policy that forbids network connections entirely. That is enforced by the browser, not promised by us: open DevTools, watch the Network tab, and it stays empty. You can also disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
